An “S” that changes everything

Remember when sites all started with “http://”?
Well, that was before. Today, if your site does not display a small padlock in the address bar, you are automatically labeled... as suspicious.
And it's not me who says it, it's your browser, Google and 95% of paranoid Internet users (rightly so).

HTTPS: what is this thing?

HTTPS = HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure
In plain French: it’s like HTTP… but with a bulletproof vest.

Concretely, it is a secure communication protocol between your browser and the website.
It encrypts the data in transit.

Result: what you send (form, passwords, banking information, etc.) cannot be read by a hacker, a neighbor who was a little too curious or a questionable Wi-Fi network in a café.

Without HTTPS, your site looks shady

A site without HTTPS today is:

  • A website labeled “not secure” by Google Chrome,
  • A site that scares away visitors faster than a 404 error page,
  • A site penalized in search results,
  • And sometimes even an inaccessible site due to firewalls or cautious browsers.

In other words:
No HTTPS = no trust = no clicks.

“Yes, but is it expensive? »

No

The good news is that HTTPS certificates are often free (thanks Let’s Encrypt) or included in your web hosting.
And even when they pay, we're talking about a few dozen dollars per year, not a luxury spa subscription.

Classic mistake: believing that HTTPS is only useful if you sell online.

  • Because you have a contact form (therefore personal data),
